Slash heating bills by 50 to 80%
Supply and demand - the cost of fuel is determined the same way as any other commodity. When supplies are short
the commodity gets more expensive. When supplies are high, prices drop.
Limited supplies and high U.S. demand are pushing natural gas prices higher. On the other hand, coal is the most abundant fuel in the world. At current rates of consumption Canada has a 900 year supply of coal and a 30 year supply of natural gas.
You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out which fuel is going to give you price stability in both short and long term. installing a Coalman furnace lets you take advantage of this abundant, low cost fuel. In many cases a one month fuel bill can pay for an entire years supply of coal.
A new generation of coal fired furnaces.
The Coalman is a new generation of coal fired, open system, hot water furnaces. They are designed to be set away from your home & buildings. The Coalman heats a water/glycol mixture which is pumped anywhere heat is required.
The Coalman's design is the result of 5 years of testing and refining. Compared to the coal furnaces of the past this new generation is more efficient and requires less maintenance.
The self-cleaning, rotating burning head provides a larger burning face with uniform air distribution for more efficient burning. The burning head is also self cleaning so maximum burning efficiency is maintained with no maintenance from you. Burning is so efficient where's virtually no smoke with a Coalman.
The unique water jacket and burning head has an extra large surface area for maximum heat transfer. Compared to vertical flue models the Coalman's water jacket requires significantly less maintenance and cleaning. The Coalman is for people who want cheap heat but don't want a furnace they have to baby sit.
Under the water jacket the Coalman has a very large ash collection area so it doesn't have to be cleaned out very often. The Coalman also has a full sized door to make ash removal and cleaning easier.
All Coalman furnaces come with an integrated coal storage hopper. It holds over a third of a ton of coal. The hopper is heated to prevent bridging problems caused by lumps of coal freezing together.
The integrated hopper can be filled manually of with an auger. If you use 2 tons of coal a month the hopper would have to be filled every 4 to 5 days. Bin level switches can be installed to automate filling.
The Coalman is so efficient and heating costs are so low many Coalman owners never shut their furnace off. Even in summer it continues to provide cost effective heat for domestic hot water, pools, hot tubs, grain drying and more.

The Coalman is available with a 17" head for a rated capacity of 400,000 BTU's. Heat Innovations also manufactures larger coal fired furnaces for bigger heating loads.

While the Coalman is designed to be setup outside, some owners are placing them inside a small central heating building. The heating building would be set away from the other buildings in the yard. This heating building in 16' X 28'. The furnace room is 16' X 12'. The coal storage room in 16' X 16' X 12' high with an in ground cone. It holds about 20% more than a Super B of coal.
